This Newsletter - Returning, Flood, 2 Continent Family, and Mission Teams!

Returning to the Philippines

At the airport saying goodbye to Clara and Lincoln as we depart the USA. We love them and miss them. We are are very proud of them.

Our family left the USA on July 15 to start our return to the Philippines. Clara and Lincoln (our two oldest kids) stayed in the USA where they are attending college. We are very proud of them. It was an emotional departure.

We first traveled to Indonesia for our Regional Retreat. This only happens every 4 years. As a missionary, this time with other missionaries is very encouraging! For many of our close friends serving in Asia Pacific, this is the only time we get to see each other. It is funny how we can not see someone for years and just pick up right where we left off, just laughing and enjoying each other’s stories.

We returned to the Philippines just as July was ending. We spent a few days with the Ranch kids in Cebu. Then to Davao to get our kids, Bonnie and Graham, ready for their first day of school.

We are thankful to be back in the Philippines. Thank you for sending us! We love what we do!

This is some of the damage left after the flood.

Flood!

As soon as our flight touched the ground, our phones lite up with messages “The safe house is flooding!” By the time we arrived 2 hours later, the food had already receded. But the damage was done. 5 feet of water in a matter of minutes. We give God praise that no one was injured. Only “things” were lost or damaged.

God’s people are very generous and responded quickly! Within weeks people starting giving generously. Items are now being repaired or replaced. AND we have been able to start construction on a much stronger flood barrier. This will not stop the flooding from occurring, But it will protect the girls and the house during future flash floods. Thank you for giving!

Mission Teams!

We love mission teams! A team from Destiny Church in Tennessee came to serve the kids of Happy Horizons. The team brought a pickleball set and all the kids loved learning and playing the game. More importantly, the team shared God’s great love for each kid. We are so grateful for Destiny Church.

The children at HHCR are amazing people! They are here because those who should have loved and protected them did not or could not. Now, HHCR has taken on the responsibility of raising them. And we love what we do! But any parent of teenagers can tell you that feeding and educating teens is not easy or cheap! At HHCR, we do our best to keep our costs down. Each meal is only a $1.50. Education is about $3 a day. But then there are family visits, court cases, medical needs, clothes, shoes, counseling… These are daily needs. You can help! $5 or $50, no gift is too small. Every donation goes towards helping raise the amazing children at HHCR! Thank you.
